On February 4, 2010 (Thursday), the Sino-Japan Industry, Education and Research Forum on Scientific Cooperation was held at the Shangri-la Hotel in Beijing . Three representatives from JSPS Beijing Office including Director Fukunishi attended the Forum, which was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China (MOST) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA) as well as the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT). Apart from those from Japanese sponsoring parties, related persons from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan (MIC) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) were also present.

At the beginning of the Forum, Jianlin Cao, Deputy Director-General of MOST , Yoshinori Kato ri , Ambassador for Science and Technology Cooperation, MOFA and Yasutaka Moriguchi, Deputy Minister of MEXT , on behalf of respective state governments, expounded on the cooperation between China and Japan on science and technology up to now and its future development, which was followed by the speeches by 5 representatives from major Chinese and Japanese enterprises on the importance of the R&D; and, in the end, at the symposium, participants of the Forum compared notes on the collaboration between the industry, government and academia as well as innovation.
